Re: Rural Development Book Contribution

Dear Colleagues

I trust that you are well.

Dr Podisi, thank you so much for the effort; and it is much appreciated.

As guidance to Contributors: this will not be a traditional packaged book (i.e., standard research chapters with authors as contributors). It will be mainly a collection and synthesis of individual “lived experiences” in development practice. See attached examples.

We had hoped that by now we would be having a fully packaged product ready to be sent out for final external review. We missed many targets in the past year mainly because contributions were too slow in coming – if you wish to contribute the new deadline is the 23rd of April 2020. Those interested should communicate directedly to me as an indication for commitment.

At least now we have 33 contributions, mainly from South Africa and Zimbabwe; if contributors are beyond the two, much better - especially females.

Hoping the above is in order and looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Dear Prof Nephawe, Dr Hachigonta, Baba Mash, Dr Podisi, Dr Warinda, Ms Yoyo, and Prof Mpandeli, Prof Maiwashe,

CC: Prof Joseph Francis

I trust that you are well.

Call for contributions is already closed; however, special concession is opened.

Kindly, share with your ASARECA, CCARDESA, TUT, NRF, WRC, ARC, Oxfam-SAF, and UKZN colleagues (i.e.., especially female researchers and development practitioners in the areas of agriculture/food, water, energy, climate, and rural development space). Also, to accommodate broad spectrum of rural development, we are welcoming contributions in: health, rural transport, governance, women and youth empowerment, etc.

Attached for your consideration contribution notes. As much as we are missing female contributors, male authors are still welcome.

We hope to finalize after COVIC-19 lockdown.

Thanking you in advance.

Regards

Tshilidzi
