Agricultural Scientific Officer
Mirjam is an Agriculturalist and Environmental Specialist by profession. She holds a National Certificate in Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development Practices, a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, a Master in Environmental Management, and a number of personal development certificates mostly in agricultural discipline. Mirjam joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF) in 2006 as an Agricultural Scientific Officer. Prior to that, she worked as a Farm Manager for a Grape Production Company where she scooped an award for the 2004 Best Grapes Producer of the Year. Since the establishment of the Vocational Education Training for Agriculture in Namibia, Mirjam is among the people who were involved in the development of curricula for the National Vocational Certificate in Agriculture level 2 and 3. Currently, she works as a Vocational Education Trainer in the Ministry, and is a registered Assessor and Moderator for Namibia Training Authority for the National Vocational Certificate in Agriculture. In 2017, Mirjam led a team of Environmental Specialists in the Ministry to develop the Environmental and Social Management Plan for the Namibia Agricultural Mechanisation and Seed Improvement Project (NAMSIP). Besides being a CCARDESA Focal Person for Namibia, Mirjam is also responsible for data curation of Agriculture Management Information System (AMIS) for the Directorate of Agricultural Research and Production within the Ministry.
