CONSULTANT QUALIFICATION-BASED SELECTION (CQS) 

Assignment Title: Review of existing training material and Development of new materials for training Farmers and local Organizations, using Herding for Health (H4H) concepts and other value chains for H4H sites in Botswana, Madagascar, and Zambia – Gaborone, Botswana

The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) has received financing from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH: equivalent to EUR 1,562,000.00 towards the cost of Growing Greener: Restoration and sustainable agropastoral systems in open arid landscapes across Southern Africa (Growing Greener) Project and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this grant towards eligible payments under this contract. 

CCARDESA is a subsidiary organization of SADC and has the mandate of coordinating agricultural research and development in the SADC region. It facilitates the implementation of various projects, including the GIZ Health for the Health  (H4H) Project. 

The overall objective of the assignment is to develop a comprehensive, infographic-rich Field Manual and associated toolkits that are specifically tailored to the distinct needs of the following target audiences;

•           Farmers- with practical, easy-to-follow guidance for adoption of H4H practices and sustainable value chains.

•           Site-level implementing staff- with clear operational procedures, facilitation tips, and monitoring tools.

•           Regional policymakers - with concise briefs, visuals, and summaries to inform policy alignment and support.

The firm is expected to provide a minimum of two key experts to undertake the assignment in 28 working days from October 2025.

The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa now invites eligible Consulting Firms (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested consultants should provide information (a Comprehensive list of assignments showing description of similar assignments, Management Structure, experience in similar conditions) demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. 

The best qualified firm to carry out the services will be selected in accordance with the Consultant’s Qualifications Based Selection (CQS) method set out in the CCARDESA procurement manual and based on the following criteria: 

  • The core business of the firm must be research 
  • The Firm must have at least 15 years of experience and expertise in conducting similar assignments. 
  • The firm must have at least 5 years of experience in conducting similar assignments at the regional level 
  • The firm must have a solid management structure with clear reporting formats. 
  • The availability of experts
