The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research for Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) facilitated finalization of the mid-term self-assessment report for the Agricultural Programme for Southern Africa (APPSA). The event, which took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 7 to 10 November 2022, brought together key stakeholders from the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and Regional Centres of Leadership (RCoL) staff from the Republic of Angola and the Kingdom of Lesotho.

APPSA is a six-year World Bank funded initiative currently implemented by Angola and Lesotho with regional coordination by CCARDESA. Soon, the project will have its mid-term review as half of the implementation period has been completed. Implementing countries, together with CCARDESA, have successfully drafted the self-assessment report detailing successes, challenges, lessons learnt as well as plans and commitments for the remaining project period. This is a very important exercise for both countries as all efforts are geared towards enhancing their chances of attaining the Project Development Objective (PDO) - to increase the availability of improved agricultural technologies in participating countries in the SADC region.

The APPSA mid-term review is scheduled to start in Angola from November 21st to 25th with the second leg in Lesotho from November 28th to December 2nd, 2022.

All efforts are geared towards enhancing chances of attaining the APPSA project development objective
