Assignment Title: Fundraiser for CCARDESA – Gaborone Botswana.
The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) has received financing from various donors towards its mandate of Coordinating Agricultural Research and Development in Southern Africa and intends to apply a portion of these proceeds towards eligible payments under this contract. Payment by CCARDESA will be made only against approved deliverables, and will be subject, in all respects, to the terms and conditions of the CCARDESA financial Management Systems.
CCARDESA is a subsidiary organization of SADC and has the mandate of coordinating all matters of agricultural research and development in the SADC region. It facilitates implementation of various projects funded by different donors. CCARDESA offers vast discussion platforms and networks to key agricultural and nutrition stakeholders across the region, including national, civil society and private agricultural research and extension services, academia and policymakers.
The overall objective of this assignment is to raise funds to support CCARDESA’s implementation of its Long-Term Strategy (LTS) and Mid-Term Operational Plan (MTOP).
The scope of this assignment entails fund raising from diverse sources to support CCARDESA’s implementation of its Long-Term Strategy (LTS) and Mid-Term Operational Plan (MTOP).
The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested consultants should provide information (Comprehensive CVs that show description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions) demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services.
The shortlisting criteria are:
The Fundraiser shall have the following key academic and professional competencies:
- At least a Masters degree in Agriculture, Social Sciences, Development, Business Administration, or any related field;
- At least ten (10) years proven international experience in financial resource mobilization with a success rate of at least 70%;
- At least 5 years proven experience and success in mobilising funds for agricultural research and development organisations;
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills as well as ability to work under tight deadlines;
- Experience in working with key funders/donors in agriculture and development regionally and internationally is desirable;
- At least three (3) past or current traceable clients that CCARDESA can contact for references and results achieved by the Fundraiser
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of the other two SADC working languages (French or Portuguese) is desirable.

The Consultant will be selected in accordance with the individual Consultancy method set out in the CCARDESA Procurement Manual.
